Moved to Misc 4.8.x, no modul-request.
Hello Ilias
shure it is possible to build a community with Contenido. But i don't think it's a good idea if you think about such a big community like facebook to build with Contenido out of the box. Therefor you have to build a lot of new modules and/or plugins for all new features you need and you have to optimize everything for performance, including the core code of Contenido. And doing so you will loose the possibility to update/upgrade Contenido core.
I think mostly this big big communities are made as standalone script using one or more frameworks like Zend or so. Also there are some special community scripts out there like dolphin and others. (
http://www.scripts.com/php-scripts/community-scripts/)
But for starting up a "normal" and not so big community it is also possible to use Contenido, holding in mind that one day you have to use some other script, if the community will grow.
For that starting up Contenido has some modules and plugins given in the forum, there is a little forum-module, a blog-module and there is a frontenduser-plugin.
But there is still a lot of work to do, building a community portal with Contenido.
Best regards
Ortwin
